How to upgrade or downgrade your subscription

Learn when your new plan takes effect, how your credits change, and where to manage your subscription.

Written by Viktoria Green

Sometimes your business needs a little more power, sometimes a little less. Your Zeely plan should move with you, not hold you back. Switching plans is quick, and you’re in control of when it happens.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to Zeely: https://app.zeely.ai/

  2. Click the circle with the first letter of your name or your profile photo in the lower-left corner of the screen. Then select your email address from the menu to open Account settings.

  3. In your account, go to Subscription & payments in the left menu. Click the arrow on the black button showing your current plan, then select Change plan.

  4. On the screen, your current plan appears together with the options to move up or down.

    • Choose the plan that feels right for you and click Upgrade to [Plan Name] or Downgrade to [Plan Name].

    • Give it a quick confirmation, and you’re all set.

After you confirm, the page may take about five seconds to update. This short loading time is normal.

What happens when you upgrade

An upgrade takes effect immediately. Once you confirm it:

  • Zeely charges you for the new plan.

  • The unused time on your previous plan is automatically refunded.

  • Your previous plan's credits are removed, and the new plan's credits are added immediately.

  • Any extra credits you purchased separately remain available.

  • Your next billing date stays the same.

For example, if you move from a plan with 1,000 credits to one with 2,000 credits, the original 1,000 credits are removed and 2,000 credits are added. Additional credits purchased separately are not affected.

Your billing date does not change

An upgrade starts within your current billing cycle, so it does not create a new renewal date.

On your existing billing date:

  • The next scheduled payment is charged.

  • Credits from the current cycle expire.

  • A new allocation of credits is added for the next billing cycle.

Important: Consider how much time is left in your current billing period before upgrading. If you upgrade two days before your next billing date, you will receive the higher plan’s credits immediately, but those credits will expire in two days. After the scheduled payment, a new allocation will be added for the next billing cycle.

Upgrade example

Suppose your next billing date is October 12, and you upgrade on October 10.

On October 10:

  • The higher plan becomes active.

  • You are charged for the new plan.

  • The unused portion of the previous plan is automatically refunded.

  • Credits from the previous plan are removed.

  • Credits from the higher plan are added.

On October 12:

  • Credits from the current billing cycle expire.

  • Your scheduled payment is charged.

  • A new allocation of credits is added for the next billing cycle.

Because the billing date remains October 12, upgrading on October 10 gives you only two days to use the first allocation of credits from the higher plan.

What happens when you downgrade

A downgrade does not take effect immediately.

Once you confirm it:

  • Your current plan remains active until the end of the paid period.

  • You keep the current plan’s features and credits until that period ends.

  • You are not charged for the lower plan at the time of the request.

  • The lower plan activates automatically on your existing billing date.

  • Any remaining credits from the previous plan expire at the end of the paid period.Credits included with the lower plan are added when that plan becomes active.

Because lower plans include fewer credits, your next credit allocation will match the allowance included with the selected plan.

Downgrade example

Suppose your current plan expires on October 12, and you request a downgrade before that date.

Until October 12:

  • Your current plan remains active.

  • You can continue using its remaining credits and features.

On October 12:

  • The current plan ends.

  • Any remaining credits included with that plan expire.

  • The lower plan becomes active.

  • The lower plan’s credit allowance is added.

There is no separate transaction when you schedule the downgrade. The lower plan is charged according to your usual billing schedule once it becomes active.

Important: After scheduling a downgrade, you cannot switch to another plan while the change is pending. You can still cancel your subscription if needed.

Where you purchased your subscription matters

  • If you originally purchased your subscription on the Zeely website and later logged in through the mobile app, the same upgrade and downgrade rules apply.

  • If you purchased your subscription through the App Store or Google Play, you must manage plan changes through that store. The timing, charges, refunds, and credit changes for store subscriptions may depend on the App Store or Google Play billing rules shown before you confirm the change.
